Card numbers and PINs are read by your iPhone's camera, on the phone. They are stored encrypted behind Face ID. No account, no server, no analytics.
Reminders that follow the law
Money on most gift cards is protected for at least 5 years from purchase or the last reload. An inactivity fee is allowed only after 12 months without use and only if it is printed on the card. Leftover counts those dates for each card and reminds you 30 and 7 days before. See the store list.
What Leftover doesn't do
- It doesn't log in to stores or read their pages

- No Apple Wallet passes yet
No real agency, utility or tax office asks you to pay with gift cards. If someone does, it is a scam: FTC advice.
Questions
Does Leftover check my balance by itself?
No. It opens the store's official balance page and copies your card number for 90 seconds so you can paste it. You type the balance you see, and Leftover keeps track as you spend.
Where are my card numbers and PINs?
On your iPhone, encrypted, behind Face ID. There is no account. With Pro and iCloud sync on, they sync through your own iCloud and stay encrypted.
How long does the money on a gift card last?
Under US federal rules (12 CFR 1005.20), money on a store gift card or a Visa or Mastercard gift card lasts at least 5 years from when it was bought or last reloaded, or longer if the card says so. Promotional cards can expire sooner. Your state may give you more protection. Not legal advice.
Is Pro a subscription?
No. Leftover Pro is $6.99 once, with Family Sharing. Cards you already added are never locked.
